প্রত্যক্ষদর্শী ও স্থানীয় সূত্রে জানা গেছে, উপজেলার কাঞ্চন পৌরসভার কালাদি এলাকায় এনআরবি ফেয়ার ডিল প্রপার্টিজ নামে একটি আবাসন প্রকল্প গড়ে উঠেছে। ঐ আবাসন প্রকল্পের বালু, ইটসহ বিভিন্ন মালামাল দেয়ার দায়িত্ব পান স্থানীয় আওয়ামীলীগ নেতা আব্দুল হক। একই এলাকার যুবলীগ নেতা আলতাফ হোসেনও ঐ আবাসন প্রকল্পের বালু, ইটসহ মালামাল দেয়ার জন্য র্দীঘ দিন ধরে চেষ্টা চালিয়ে আসছেন। এ নিয়ে আওয়ামীলীগ নেতা আব্দুল হকের সঙ্গে যুবলীগ নেতা আলতাফ হোসেনের বিরোধ চলে আসছিলো। আবাসন প্রকল্পের আধিপত্য নিয়ে প্রায় সময়ই তাদের দু গ্রুপের মাঝে ধাওয়া পাল্টা ধাওয়া ও সংঘর্ষের ঘটনা ঘটেছে। বুধবার রাত সাড়ে ১২টার দিকে এনআরবি ফেয়ার ডিল প্রপার্টিজ নামে আবাসন প্রকল্পের ইট লুট করা নিয়ে আব্দুল হক গ্রুপের সঙ্গে আলতাফ গ্রুপের রামদা, চাপাতিসহ বিভিন্ন ধরনের অস্ত্রশস্ত্র নিয়ে দফায় দফায় ধাওয়া পাল্টা ধাওয়া ও রক্তক্ষয়ী সংঘর্ষের ঘটনা ঘটে। এসময় পুরো এলাকায় আতঙ্ক ছড়িয়ে পড়ে। গ্রামের লোকজন ছুটাছুটি করতে শুরু করে। সংঘর্ষে উভয় গ্রুপের আব্দুল হক, তার স্ত্রী মুজিরুন নেছা, শফিকুল ইসলাম, সেলিম, বশির আহাম্মেদ, তারেক, শারমিন বনিক, সবুজসহ অন্তত ১০ জন আহত হয়েছেন। আহতদের মধ্যে সেলিম ও বশির আহাম্মেদকে মুমুর্ষ অবস্থায় ঢাকা মেডিকেল কলেজ হাসপাতালে ভর্তি করা হয়েছে। তাদের অবস্থা আশঙ্কা জনক বলে জানিয়েছেন স্বজনরা। এ ঘটনার সঙ্গে জড়িত থাকার অভিযোগে পুলিশ শফিকুল ইসলাম, সবুজ, শারমিন বনিককে গ্রেফতার করেছে। এদিকে, ইট লুটের অভিযোগ এনে এনআরবি ফেয়ার ডিল প্রপার্টিজের এক্সকিউটিভ অফিসার হাজী আবুল কালাম বাদী হয়ে একটি অভিযোগ দায়ের করেছেন। অপর দিকে, জেলা সিনিয়র সহকারী পুলিশ সুপার ফোরকান সিকদার ও রূপগঞ্জ থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা ওসি ইসমাইল হোসেনের নেতৃত্বে বিপুল পরিমান পুলিশ সদস্য ঘটনাস্থল পৌছে পরিস্থিতি নিয়ন্ত্রণে আনেন। এ বিষয়ে রূপগঞ্জ থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা ওসি ইসমাইল হোসেন বলেন, ঘটনার সঙ্গে জড়িত থাকার অভিযোগে ৩ জনকে গ্রেফতার করা হয়েছে। উভয় পক্ষ থেকে অভিযোগ নিয়ে ব্যবস্থা গ্রহন করা হবে। এছাড়া বর্তমানে পরিস্থিতি স্বাভাবিক রয়েছে।
