মামলার বাদী বিজেএমসির নিরাপত্তা কর্মকর্তা জিয়াউর রহমান নারায়ণগঞ্জ বার্তা ২৪ এর প্রতিবেদককে জানান, ১৯৭২ সাল থেকে ১৯৮৩ সাল পর্যন্ত গাউছিয়া জুট মিলটি সম্পূর্ণ রূপে জাতীয়করণ ছিলো। ১৯৮৩ সালের ২৩ জানুয়ারীতে সরকার ও মিল কর্তৃপক্ষের মধ্যে চুক্তির মাধ্যমে বেসরকারী ব্যবস্থাপনায় হস্তান্তর করা হয়। মিলটিতে সরকারের শেয়ার, বিপুল পরিমাণ সরকারী পাওনাসহ আর্থিক প্রতিষ্ঠান ও অন্যান্য পাওনাদের বিশাল স্বার্থ জড়িত ছিলো। মিলের ব্যবস্থাপনা পরিচালক মুড়াপাড়া এলাকার মৃত গুলবক্স ভূইঁয়ার ছেলে রফিক উদ্দিন ভূইঁয়াসহ তার লোকজনের যোগসাজসে গত ৬ মার্চ রাত সাড়ে ৯টার দিকে রাতের অন্ধকারে মিল থেকে প্রায় দশ কোটির মেশিনারিজ ও মালামাল অন্যত্র বিক্রয়ের মাধ্যমে ট্রাক যোগে নিয়ে যায়।
